About Counting
On every page to be counted an invisible image is embedded. That image
is actually a Perl script which writes access data (accessed page, referer,
web browser, IP address and time) into a text file. When a link leaving
CyDAS is followed, another Perl script is called via a javascript invoked
by the "onclick" handler of the link. The data in the text file are evaluated
on a monthly basis.
Due to the counting system, some page hits may be lost. When a user
disabled javascript, only part of the information can be collected. This
means that actual usage of the CyDAS web site is likely to be higher than
shown.
